What issues should be noted during the operation of glass lined reactors

Glass lined reactors are widely used in chemical,pharmaceutical,food,and other fields due to their excellent corrosion resistance,thermal stability,and ease of cleaning.However,its enamel layer is brittle and hard,and is sensitive to operating conditions.Improper use can easily lead to accidents such as porcelain explosion,cracking,and even leakage.
Pre-operation preparation
1.Equipment inspection
Integrity of enamel layer:After rinsing the inner wall with a high-pressure water gun,visually inspect for cracks,pinholes,bubbles,or detachment under strong light.
Sealing condition:Check whether the rubber O-ring and PTFE gasket of the mechanical seal or packing seal are aging and cracking,and replace them with corrosion-resistant materials if necessary.
2.Material compatibility verification
PH limit:Glass lined reactors are resistant to acid and alkali,and must not come into contact with strong alkali(pH>12)or hydrofluoric acid(HF);Acidic materials need to be controlled in concentration(such as hydrochloric acid≤20%,sulfuric acid≤50%).
Temperature tolerance:The thermal shock stability of the enamel layer is poor,and the heating/cooling rate should be≤50℃/h.It is recommended to control the operating temperature range between-19℃and 220℃.
3.No load trial operation:Anticipate potential problems
Start the mixing motor,observe if there is any leakage at the shaft seal,and listen for any abnormal sound from the bearing operation(such as friction or jamming).
Manually rotate the stirring blade and check if the gap between it and the enamel reactor is uniform(standard gap is 3-5mm)to avoid eccentric collision during operation.
The safe operation of glass lined reactors needs to run through the entire chain of"prevention control maintenance".Enterprises should establish standardized operating procedures(SOP),strengthen operator training(especially for new employees and outsourced personnel),and regularly conduct equipment health assessments.Through refined management and technological upgrades(such as installing online monitoring systems),the risk of porcelain explosion can be significantly reduced,the service life of equipment can be extended to more than 10 years,and sustainable value can be created for enterprises.
